So I just wanna say: L-O-V-E. I LOVED this outfit- I loved everything about it- from making it to wearing it. (Four layers in LA and I still loved it.)
I also have to give myself a little pat on the back because this is the 100th cosplay i've worn. (Not to be confused with the 100th cosplay i've created! Though that is coming up soon too!)
This costume was incredibly cheap as far as cosplay price goes- but for me I broke it down with previous fabric i've already worn. When I got to work making this I decided immediately against chain mail due to the costs. I went with a fabric that looked like a basket weave (all my friends were surprised and laughed at my cospro abilities ^^! Made my day.) to give the look of chainmail from afar.
The tunic fabric I had stuffed in a bin from a previous outfit, and I used yarn for all the thread count that he had on his hat-sleeves, and his tunic- including the front shirt. Which turned out to be stupid because it frayed. Totally saw that coming yet I did not hairspray the yarn. Derp.
The undershirt underneath everything that is longsleeved and has a turtleneck was excess fabric from Lightning. I had to cut it into a mid drift underneath because I just barely had enough fabric. The pants were purchased from a Target online boutique and shipped to me. The shoes I bought from a thrift store and put craft foam on the create Link's look- they fall short of what I desire in an outfit but I did not want to spend excessively. The gloves I made- but they fell apart near the end of the day. ^^ hahaha.
The gauntlet is made out of a specific foam- and has craft foam to create the accents- and I dry brushed paint on it to give it a exclusive weathered appearance. (Fun times!) it absorbed the heck out of the paint haha. The shield is made out of styrophone and craft foam and a blue posterboard. This also falls short of what I want- so i'm going to be researching plastic work and resin for my next Link. The sword is made out of wood- and even though you can't see it the sheath was made out of craft foam and the thicker foam I purchased. I'm kind of sad none of these shots show the work I did on the sheath XD hopefully I can scrounge up a picture for you guys to see the intimate details.
The wig I did work with dying it using yellow sharpie and copic to get a more weathered look- it's kind of all different colors but you'd have to be in my business to tell
I had some help for sure!
Helped me with some pieces on the basket weave undershirt ^^~! Applied my ears! So much prosthetic! Helped put blush on my ears~ the ears were the most favorite part.
I think this costume in total ranged to mid seventy-ish dollars. Which is a lot for a costume I create. (You can't see the pouches in this shot either! I loved the detail work on those XD)
I've known about Zelda since I was a wee thing- I played some of the first games on Nintendo- and also endlessly played A Link to the Past. Which was and forever will remain my all time favorite due to memories sake. I played through all of Ocarina of Time- but unfortunately I have only seen cut scenes of Twilight Princess. The reason why I desired to make this outfit for myself was due to the amount of detail work involved with this particular outfit. I thought all the other Links just were not for me- and since yarn is only like a dollar that day- I decided I could try this version out.
I particularily enjoy all the accessories ^^!!!
Picture credit to: who was an amazingly entertaining photographer- I think we goofed off more than took shots. However nearly everything she did take was fantastic!
from the pose to the look on your face xD
this is great !
